Body of Newport Beach doctor found at Arizona clinic

A body matching the description of a missing Newport Beach doctor was discovered on the grounds of a Tucson clinic, authorities said Tuesday.

The body at Sierra Tucson clinic matches the description of Dr. Kenneth Litwack but the identity of the dead man has yet to be confirmed, Elias Johnson, a public information officer with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office told the Daily Pilot.

Litwack, 71, checked himself into the clinic Aug. 12 to be treated for pain related to foot neuropathy, and went missing Aug. 16, according to his wife, Louise Litwack.

Dr. Litwack was an infectious-disease specialist who practiced in Newport Beach.

At the time of his disappearance, he was without his wallet or watch, but an American Express card was missing from his possessions, Louise Litwack said.

The official search for Litwack halted on Aug. 23, when an investigation of the area yielded no clues to the doctor's disappearance, Johnson told the Daily Pilot last week.

Some of Litwack's friends went to Tucson to search for him, and family members mobilized a volunteer group to continue the search.

A $10,000 reward was posted by the Litwack family last week for any credible information leading to Dr. Litwack's whereabouts.
