Man who punched baby to death denied parole
A former Costa Mesa man convicted of killing a 7-month-old boy by punching him has been denied parole, the Daily Pilot reported.
Mahmoud Fathi, 52, was sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison in 1990 for killing his girlfriend's baby in 1983. Daniel Teodurezcu died from a tear in his abdomen and three fractured ribs.
The parole board agreed with the Orange County district attorney's office, which opposed Fathi's release, pointing to his denial of responsibility or involvement in the child's death and lack of remorse.
