A 4-year-old boy died Monday from injuries he suffered falling from a third-story window of a residential high-rise in Marina del Rey, officials said.

Los Angeles fire and police authorities responded to the apartment complex in the 13700 block of Marina Pointe Drive about 6:12 pm. Sunday, said Brian Humphrey, a Fire Department spokesman.

Los Angeles County Coroner’s Deputy Chief Ed Winter identified the child as Nico Lurie, 4.

He was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he died Monday.

An initial police investigation suggests the boy fell through a screen window.
