Crews cut roof off car to extricate person from crash near Magic Mountain

June 21, 2011 | 11:34 am

Traffic is moving slowly on northbound Interstate 5 in Valencia near Magic Mountain after a car hit the center divider and veered off the road into a ditch, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Crews had to cut the roof off the car to remove the person inside the vehicle, who sustained "moderate to severe" injuries and is being transported to a trauma center, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson said.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash, which occurred just after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

No freeway lanes are closed, and officials said they expect traffic to return to normal soon.
