Dozens arrested in South L.A. gang sweep [Updated]
Dozens of gang members and their associates were arrested Thursday in a multi-agency sweep of South Los Angeles, authorities said.
Suspects were taken to the Sports Arena complex, just south of downtown L.A., where TV news crews recorded a police bus on scene to help manage the large number of arrestees.
Few details were available other than a brief Los Angeles Police Department advisory noting officers were targeting gang members and their associates.
Updated at 9:21 a.m.: About 30 to 40 members of the Black P Stone gang in Baldwin Village, a gang affiliated with the Bloods, were arrested, sources said. Contents of an indictment against the gang will be released later.
Local and federal law enforcement agencies planned to hold a news conference on the operation late Thursday morning.
