Snow expected to affect driving conditions in Grapevine area

April 7, 2011 | 11:09 pm

Snowfalls are expected to affect driving conditions early Friday on Interstate 5 in the Grapevine area and California 14 in Soledad Canyon, according to the National Weather Service.

An unseasonably cold weather system is expected to cause snow levels to drop to 2,000 feet, the Weather Service said Thursday night.

In mountain areas, the agency said, "snow accumulations of up to 3 inches is not out of the question."

Temperatures on Friday are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees below normal before warming up a few degrees over the weekend, according to the Weather Service.
