LAPD helicopter struck by gunfire, makes emergency landing [Updated]

Map shows location of incident A Los Angeles Police Department helicopter made an emergency landing Sunday morning after being struck by gunfire in the San Fernando Valley.

There were no immediate reports of injuries to officers, and it is believed the suspect also fired on officers on the ground using a rifle.

At least one suspect was arrested in the incident, which began early Sunday near Saticoy Street and Densmore Avenue.

A short time after the shots were fired, the helicopter landed at Van Nuys Airport, police said.

[Updated at 8:20 a.m.: The suspect was decribed as being 20 years old. The incident was reported about 6 a.m.]
