Search underway for missing Disney cruise crew member

March 25, 2011 |  9:58 am

Dwy The Mexican navy was continuing to search coastal waters Friday for a crew member of a Los Angeles-based Disney cruise liner who is feared lost at sea.

The unidentified woman failed to report to work Tuesday on the Disney Wonder, which is on a seven-day trip along the Pacific coast of Mexico.

Investigators from the Bahamas Maritime Authority were expected to board the ship Friday in Cabo San Lucas. The Disney Wonder is registered in the Bahamas.

“Given the circumstances, we are very concerned about this crew member and are doing everything possible to assist with the search effort and investigation,” Christi Erwin Donnan, a spokeswoman for the Disney Cruise Line, said in a statement. “We have also done a thorough and comprehensive inspection of the ship and spoken with the crew member’s colleagues to gather as much information as possible.”

The ship was at sea at the time the crew member was reported missing, she said. The Disney Wonder is expected to be back in Los Angeles on Sunday.
