Car windows bashed in with baseball bats in Midway City

March 29, 2011 |  7:57 am

A group of young people were under investigation Tuesday for allegedly using baseball bats to smash the windows of five vehicles in Midway City and firing shots in the air, authorities said.

Orange County sheriff's deputies were called to the 15200 block of Van Buren Street about 9:40 p.m. Monday after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and windows being broken, Lt. Lloyd Downing said.

No one was injured.

The group of two juveniles and six men and one woman in their 20s fled in several vehicles but they were tracked to Huntington Beach, where deputies interviewed them and recovered a handgun.

No one was arrested at the scene, but detectives are investigating the incident as part of a feud between  gangs.
