Rose Parade: 48 people arrested, most for public intoxication

January 1, 2011 | 10:03 am

Pasadena police said 48 people were arrested along the Rose Parade route overnight and this morning, 39 of them for public intoxication.

Three people were facing felony charges, including one for assaulting a police officer, said Deputy Police Chief Mike Korpal.

There have been no injuries.

"The crowds seems slightly down from last year probably due to the cold temperature, but they're starting to come in as it gets warmer and closer to the parade," he said.

He said a fixed-wing aircraft was flying about 300 feet off the ground to help officials patrol the crowd and take air samples of toxins that could be detrimental to visiting crowds.
