Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck an 18-year-old woman in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles.

The woman was crossing Figueroa Street at 66th Street with a friend about 10:30 p.m. Friday when she was struck by a pickup truck traveling north on Figueroa, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Cy Feliciano said. The vehicle slowed down but did not stop and continued northbound.

The victim was transported to California Hospital Medical Center where she later died.

The driver was described as a Latino male with a large beard, Feliciano said. The truck is a two-door late model with an extended cab and tinted windows. It is beige or champagne-colored.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the LAPD’s South Traffic Division at (323) 290-6063.
