Newborn girl's body is found in San Bernardino alley

January 22, 2011 |  6:48 pm

The body of a newborn baby girl was found Saturday afternoon inside a plastic trash bag that had been placed in an alley in San Bernardino, police said.

A woman who was cleaning part of the alley off North Sierra Way discovered the infant's body, which still had the umbilical cord attached. Police said the girl weighed about 5 pounds and had black hair.

Investigators could not determine if the girl died before or after her birth.

Authorities, including the San Bernardino County coroner’s office, are trying to determine the identity of the baby and her mother.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Pat Pritchett at (909) 384-5662.
