December 1, 2010 |  8:02 am

Three teenagers accused of stealing $6,000 in laptop computers from a Hawthorne charter school were arrested after a four-hour police search involving police dogs and a helicopter.

Officers responding to a burglary alarm at Da Vinci charter school at 12:47 a.m. Monday spotted three young men running from campus, according to Hawthorne police Lt. Gary Tomatani.

Police surrounded the area and conducted a search with dogs and officers from Manhattan Beach, Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Culver City and Beverly Hills.

After four hours, police found the teens in a nearby house. Seven laptop computers the teens allegedly stole from two classrooms were found nearby.

The Hawthorne teens, a 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds, were booked on suspicion of burglary at Eastlake Juvenile Hall in Los Angeles.
