Police investigating shooting death of man in Boyle Heights

Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man in Boyle Heights Friday in what police believe to be a gang-related incident.

The shooting occurred at around 11:09 a.m. on Friday in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, said officer Bruce Borihanh, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police described the victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, as a Latino male between 25 and 30 years old.

“He was at the location when a suspect approached him in a dark color Jeep Cherokee,” Borihanh said. “Multiple shots were fired. The victim was struck multiple times.”

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Borihanh said the incident was believed to be gang-related.
