November 3, 2010 |  9:28 am

One man was killed and another shot Wednesday in an apparent home-invasion robbery in Downey, authorities said.

Home2 Officers responded to the home on the 9300 block of Gainford Street at about 2:50 a.m. on a call of a prowler on the scene, said Lt. Phil Rigo, a spokesman for the Downey Police Department. When officers entered the home they found one man dead and another man suffering from gunshot wounds, Rigo said.

The individual who was killed is believed to be the homeowner. The wounded man was taken to a hospital, Rigo said.

Police are treating the incident as a home invasion and have not released the names of the two victims.
