Printing business destroyed in Chatsworth fire [Updated]

November 3, 2010 |  9:53 pm

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a printing business in the Chatsworth area and continued to smolder late into Wednesday night, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the site of the blaze on Owensmouth Avenue about 6 p.m. Within minutes, the fire had burned through the roof of the 80-foot-by-100-foot building housing Coronet Printing.

[Updated, 10:17 p.m.: Fire officials say Coronet is a subsidiary of the building owner, Aaron, Thomas and Associates.]

Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said more than 200 firefighters were on scene.

Although the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, Humphrey said it was clear that the paper and other printing materials helped the blaze escalate.
