Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies and Los Angeles city fire crews were called to the Red Line station near Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Sgt. Michael Thomas of the Sheriff's Department said it's unclear how the person got underneath the train or how badly he or she was injured.

Authorities said the track the train is on has been shut down.

[Updated at 8 a.m.: Officials said all trains north of the station have been stopped, but trains to the south are still operating. Officials are working to route buses to compensate for the closure.]
