Summer is over, but a hot weekend is on tap for this weekend -- and that means firefighters are bracing for potential brush fires.

The National Weather Service issued a heat warning for large portions of Southern California for the weekend and early next week, with highs expected to top 100 in some valley and inland areas. Forecasters said the heat combined with mild off-shore winds will also increase the fire danger.

A fire off Ortega Highway in the Cleveland National Forest burned 60 acres on Thursday, but firefighters hope to have it contained sometime today.

Sunday and Monday appear to be the hottest days, with the NWS predicting highs in the low 90s along the coast and above 100 in some valley and inland areas.
