SWAT team in standoff with man barricaded in home near Carson

August 6, 2010 | 11:19 am

An L.A. County sheriff’s SWAT team has surrounded a home near Carson and is attempting to negotiate the surrender of a man who allegedly fired shots at two others early Friday.

Deputies had evacuated several houses near the home in the 2600 block of Raymond Avenue, said deputy Luis Castro, a department spokesman.

The incident began shortly after 5:30 a.m., when two men were distributing fliers in the neighborhood, Castro said.

A man near one house began firing at the two men. No one was hurt. But the shooter ducked into a house and would not come out, prompting the call to SWAT officers and a crisis negotiator, Castro said.
