Rosemead shooting leaves one dead, one injured

August 8, 2010 |  3:03 pm

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a collision in Rosemead on Sunday morning discovered two shooting victims, one dead, and a burning automobile, according to authorities.

The incident occurred in the 8500 block of East Garvey Avenue some time before 10 a.m. Deputies said they arrived at the scene to find a compact car that had hit a wall and was in flames. A man who had suffered a gunshot wound was standing outside the car. A second man, in the car's passenger seat, had also been shot. After deputies removed him from the car, he was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives later learned that before the wreck, a dark sports utility vehicle had been seen chasing the compact car.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
