A 28-year-old Bellflower man was killed Friday night in an apparent road rage incident on an onramp to the 105 Freeway in Downey, police said. The man's wife and two young children were in the car with him.

The victim, whose name was not released, was arguing with another driver as he drove toward the 105 Freeway along Lakewood Boulevard about 6:30 p.m., his wife, who was in the passenger seat, told police.

As they entered the eastbound freeway onramp at Woodruff Avenue, she heard a gunshot, said Downey Police Lt. Phil Rigo.

The victim was shot in the upper body, Rigo said. He pulled the car to the side of the freeway, got out and walked to the back of the vehicle, where he collapsed.

The victim was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital, police said.

The suspect fled. Police are searching for a blue, 2002-03 Honda Accord with dark tinted windows and chrome rims.

"Obviously the family is most distraught," Rigo said.
