KCET reviewing its options, including selling Sunset Boulevard studios

Selling KCET's historic Sunset Boulevard studio in Silver Lake is just one of the options available to the local PBS station as it looks for ways to improve its financial fortunes, programming and public profile.

There's also the possibility that one of public television's largest stations could go solo, dropping out of the PBS network and operating as an independent.

Those are just some of the tough choices the station is looking at after a recent bid to reinvigorate itself fell flat. It even hired onetime network programming guru Fred Silverman to help bring about some positive change.

But it all came down to money, or a lack thereof, which made it difficult to carry out any fresh ideas.
