Two sentenced in post-Lakers championship violence

July 21, 2010 |  1:07 pm

Two Los Angeles men have been sentenced to 90-day jail terms and yearlong probation for participating in a June melee after the Lakers' NBA championship victory, officials said Wednesday.

Mark Hull, 20, and Carlos Fuentes, 22, were two of at least 45 people arrested June 17 outside Staples Center.

Hull is in federal custody at Camp Pendleton, facing felony charges of desertion from the U.S. Marine Corp. Officials said they arrested him after he threw rocks through the window of a business on Olive Street.

Fuentes had kicked and broken the rear lights of a police car. The court ordered him to pay $410 to repair the damage.

Each man entered a plea of no contest Tuesday to one count of vandalism.

They were sentenced to 12 months of probation and 90 days in custody and ordered to stay away from Staples Center for the length of their probation.
