Westwood high-rise fire causes minor injury

One person suffered minor injuries when a fire broke out Friday on the eighth floor of a high-rise residential tower on Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood, authorities said.

The fire occurred around 10:40 p.m. Friday. More than 120 firefighters responded, and Wilshire Boulevard was closed for a short time.

The victim suffered from smoke inhalation, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. It occurred at a 14-story building near the corner of Wilshire and Beverly Glen boulevards.

It took firefighters about 50 minutes to put out the fire.
