Pipe bombs found in Garden Grove home

June 2, 2010 |  7:58 am

L3e8yvnc Orange County sheriff’s deputies recovered two pipe bombs and a hand grenade Wednesday from a home in Garden Grove, an agency spokesman said.

Local authorities raided the home on Chapman Avenue and found several boxes in the backyard containing explosive devices, said sheriff’s Lt. Mike Jansen.

The sheriff’s bomb squad was called to the scene at about 1:10 a.m., he said.

“We are in the process of recovering the devices,” he said.

Jansen could not say why the house was raided or whether there had been any arrests. Garden Grove Police Department officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
