Trader Joe's clerk shot in leg during Eagle Rock robbery

May 31, 2010 |  7:50 pm

Robbers shot a Trader Joe's clerk in the leg and fled the Eagle Rock store with a large amount of money, police said Monday.

Two armed men entered the store in the 1500 block of Colorado Boulevard about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, after closing.

A clerk hit one of the robbers over the head with a wine bottle, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Eddie Ortiz, and the second robber shot the clerk once in the leg.

The two then sped away in a car driven by a third person. All three remained at large.

The clerk was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Store managers declined to provide further details Monday, referring inquiries to the grocery chain’s corporate offices.
