Online sexual-predator sting snares 5 suspects

May 25, 2010 |  8:22 am

A Huntington Beach online sting, in which a detective would pose as a 13-year-old girl and arrange to meet with interested men, has resulted in five arrests, officials said.

A Fountain Valley man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving to Huntington Beach to have sex with the fictitious 13-year-old girl, officials said this week.

Alvin Huynh, 23, was arrested on suspicion of attempted lewd conduct with a child, communicating with a minor and arranging a meeting place with a minor for lewd conduct, Lt. Russell Reinhart told the Huntington Beach Independent.

Huynh began communicating with detectives working in the guise of a 13-year-old girl online and made plans to meet with her despite being told repeatedly she was underage.

Officials declined to release specific information on the ongoing investigation.

Detectives have special training to take part in this kind of police activity and do similar stings to catch prostitutes on Craigslist.
