Water Main Break Closes PCHThe 10 Freeway was closed at Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica on Thursday morning because of flooding.

The closure is expected to cause major problems for the morning commute, and it's unclear when the freeway will be reopened.

The closure occurred near the McClure Tunnel, where Interstate 10 becomes California Route 1. KTLA News reported a suspected drunk driver struck a water main, creating major flooding on the roadway.

Westbound traffic was being diverted off the 10 before the tunnel. The detour takes drivers to Pacific Coast Highway via the California Incline.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. at the 1200 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
