Man killed by Metrolink train in Fullerton [Updated]

April 26, 2010 |  7:42 pm

A Metrolink train headed east toward Corona has been delayed after striking a man who had walked onto the tracks Monday evening in an apparent suicide, authorities said.

Metrolink train 708 on the 91 line struck the man about 6:10 p.m. in Fullerton, authorities said. Buses were being dispatched to provide transportation for passengers on the line, Metrolink said in a Twitter message.

Meanwhile, train 707 was being re-routed through Anaheim Canyon and making all of its scheduled stops, the transit agency said.

The case is being treated as an apparent suicide, said Sgt. Kevin Craig of the Fullerton Police Department.

Craig said investigators were at the scene. The name and age of the man had not been determined.

[Updated 8:07 p.m.: Metrolink train 708 was cleared to resume service and is back in operation, the transit agency said.]
