2 critically burned after trailer parked on Venice street explodes

December 6, 2009 |  7:30 am

Two people were critically burned in a fire that broke out in the trailer they were living in on a Venice-area street.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the 4100 block of Redwood Avenue on Saturday after neighbors reported an explosion.

The man and woman inside the trailer suffered burns to their faces and hands and were taken to UCLA Medical Center in Westwood.

The cause was under investigation. Authorities, noting that it was cold that morning, were trying to determine whether the fire was related to an  attempt to heat the trailer.
