October 25, 2009 | 11:21 am

A 41-year-old man who was bringing food to his girlfriend at her Wilmington home was shot to death early Sunday morning, and Los Angeles police are asking anyone with information about the killing to come forward.

Jose Augusto Caceros was walking up the steps to his girlfriend’s home in the 400 block of North Gulf Avenue at 1:15 a.m. when he was approached by someone with a gun, according to police.

The suspect shot Caceros and fled, police say. Caceros was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call David Alvarez or David Cortez, LAPD Harbor area homicide detectives, at (310) 726-7881.
