Woman, 79, dies after blunt-force trauma in Bell Gardens [Updated]

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 79-year-old woman who was found dead about 10:15 a.m. today in the 6300 block of Gotham Street in Bell Gardens.

The woman had sustained blunt-force trauma injuries, according to the Sheriff's Department, which did not identify her or release any or other information.

[Updated at 5:45 p.m.:  The Sheriff's Department issued a news release this evening stating that Bell Gardens police, responding to a 911 call, found the woman and an injured adult male believed to be her son. The woman died at the scene. The man, whose name was not released, had what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the release said.]
