Riverside County firefighters said the brush fire that burned 340 acres near Temecula will be contained by Sunday morning.

The fire was reported about 3 p.m. near the 79 Freeway and Sage Road, south of Vail Lake, said Riverside County Fire Capt. Fernando Herrera.

The blaze burned 12 structures. One resident was treated for minor smoke inhalation, Herrera said. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire was being investigated late Saturday.

Some 30 houses were evacuated. An evacuation center has opened at Great Oak High School at 32555 Deer Hollow Way in Temecula. The blaze destroyed numerous power poles, causing outages in the area. It also forced the closure of parts of California 79 and California 3 until Sunday morning, Herrera said.
