A smoke advisory is in effect today for the foothill and mountain communities affected by the Station fire in the Angeles National Forest, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Air quality will reach unhealthful levels in the San Gabriel Mountains and in Altadena, La CaƱada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Tujunga, Sunland, Montrose, Altadena and Acton.

Air quality officials advise residents to close their windows and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

Smoke may also affect air quality in the southeastern San Gabriel Valley. Similar conditions will affect the western San Bernardino Mountains, including Mt. Baldy, Lytle Creek and Devore.

For regularly updated air quality information, see the management district's air quality map.
