Woman crashes into restaurant, injures cook

August 15, 2009 | 10:49 pm

A cook was doused with hot oil and hospitalized with serious burns after an elderly woman slammed her car into a burger restaurant and knocked over a deep fryer.

Ventura County Fire Capt. Frank O’Hanlon said the woman was driving through the parking lot of Burger Express in Thousand Oaks today and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending the car through a wall and into the kitchen.

O’Hanlon said the man had burns over 60% of his body. He said the driver could face criminal charges.

The identities of the man and woman were not immediately available.
