Teenagers stabbed during beach bonfire at Dockweiler

August 16, 2009 | 10:31 am

Four or five teenagers were stabbed Friday night during a bonfire celebration at Dockweiler beach south of Playa del Rey, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred late at night as the teens were partying at the county beach, one of the few in the region that allows nighttime bonfires.

Police are still looking for suspects, and officials don't believe the attack was random.

The teens, whose names have not been released, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their wounds are not life-threatening, according to the LAPD.

KTLA News interviewed several beachgoers Saturday night who said they were dismayed about the violence there.
