Monday, 5:35 p.m.: For more California fire mapping options, see Danny Sullivan's post at Search Engine Land.

Monday, 4:15 p.m.: With afternoon winds picking up, the fire is moving toward residential areas of Sunland and Santa Clarita on the west. To the east, firefighters are hoping that an effort to cut fire breaks and lay down fire retardant will save the Mt. Wilson Observatory and a key complex of communications towers.
