3 fires nearing containment; new fire sparked in Oak Glen area

Firefighters were making progress today against the Cottonwood fire east of Hemet, which had burned through 2,400 acres and was 75% contained.

The Morris fire, which burned more than 2,100 acres north of Azusa, was 85% contained this evening. Both were expected to be fully contained by Monday.

The fire on the Palos Verdes peninsula, which burned 230 acres, was declared 100% contained Saturday.

A new forest fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the Oak Glen area about 20 miles east of San Bernardino on the edge of the San Bernardino National Forest.
