'Penny carnival' planned in Glendale

The Penny Carnival is coming to Glendale this afternoon. The one-day event sponsored by the Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department includes carnival games, face painting, balloons, popcorn and snow cones for 5 to 25 cents.
Arts and crafts will be displayed and prizes handed out to participants. The eighth-annual carnival runs from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Montrose Park, 3529 Clifton Place. Three others are planned this summer, the next on Aug. 5 at Palmer Park.
