Saturday afternoon killing in Long Beach

May 3, 2009 |  5:22 pm

A 25-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in Long Beach, officials said.

The man, who was not identified, was shot multiple times in the torso near the intersection of 52nd Street and Orange Avenue about 1:30 p.m., said Long Beach Police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani. Two men fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Police believe the shooting may have been gang related and hope witnesses will come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives Russ Moss and Teri Hubert at (562) 570-7244.
