L.A. school board delays vote on teacher firings

May 27, 2009 |  7:49 am

A Los Angeles school board vote on a resolution calling for state lawmakers to revise laws to allow for swifter firing of teachers who have committed violent or immoral acts against children was postponed Tuesday.

The resolution had already been withdrawn once before and the author, school board member Marlene Canter, asked that the vote be moved to June 9.

State lawmakers have said there is little chance they can enact any changes this year.
