Parolee allegedly stabs girlfriend to death in Placentia

February 6, 2009 | 10:39 am

A 25-year-old parolee stabbed his estranged girlfriend to death inside her Orange County home and in front of their two children, authorities said today.

Police are searching for Miguel Alexander Vargas, a parolee who allegedly attacked 23-year-old Annette Angelina Alvarado on Thursday about 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of La Paloma Avenue in Placentia and then fled the scene in a 2003 white Acura, said Corinne Loomis, a detective with the Placentia Police Department.

Alvarado suffered multiple stab wounds and was later pronounced dead at Placentia-Linda Hospital, Loomis said. The only witnesses to the attack were the couple’s 5-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.

“They said, 'Dad came in and stabbed Mom in the neck,' ” Loomis said. “He came in, he did what he did, he got out. He was not there for a prolonged amount of time. I don’t know whether or not he came over already mad about something else or if something that she did or did not do once he got there just sparked and triggered him. Based on what the kids said, there was no discussion or argument.”

The children are with their grandparents, who live at the same Placentia home. Vargas is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen in the Acura, which has stock alloy wheels, tinted windows, a spoiler and bears the California license plate number 5SFY351. Anyone with information is asked to call the Placentia Police at (714) 993-8151.
