One dead, one wounded in East L.A. shooting
Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in East Los Angeles that left one man dead and another wounded. Few details were available this morning as investigators continued to piece together the shooting near Garfield High School.
Deputies were sent at 3:12 a.m. to the 600 block of South Fraser Avenue, near 6th Street, said Deputy Aura Sierra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. She said one man was dead at the scene and another was taken to a hospital, where he was recovering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The motive for the shooting was unknown, Sierra said.
