A San Fernando Valley man died in a fire he set to his own home after a dispute with his wife, authorities said today.

The unidentified Northridge resident was pronounced dead about 11 p.m. Tuesday at the scene in the 18900 block of West Knapp Street, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. No other injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating but believe the man threatened his wife before setting their house on fire, said Officer Julianne Sohn of the Los Angeles Police Department. It took firefighters about 35 minutes to knock down the fire, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department news alert.
