Dead body found on subway tracks

December 17, 2008 | 10:34 pm

A man died Wednesday night when he fell off a subway platform and struck his head on the tracks at the Hollywood and Vine station of the Metro Red Line, authorities said.

The man appeared to have been suffering from a medical problem when he walked off the platform and fell onto the rails. He did not touch the subway’s high-voltage third rail, nor was he struck by a subway train, according to Gale Anderson, a spokesperson with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The body was discovered about 7:30 p.m.

Homicide investigators found no signs of foul play at the scene, according to Los  Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Oscar Butao.

The ultimate cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
The incident caused some delays throughout the evening, Anderson said.
