Two fires in Cleveland National Forest*

November 17, 2008 |  5:05 pm

Two small fires burned along Ortega (74) Highway in Orange and Riverside counties.

A small seven-acre blaze that started about 2:30 p.m. just east of the Riverside County line near a candy store was quickly squashed.

Another seven-acre fire near the highway in Orange County was 95% contained and was expected to be extinguished soon, said Larry Landeros, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.

The highway was closed through the Cleveland National Forest from Antonio Parkway in Orange County to Grand Avenue in Riverside County and was expected to remain closed for the next four hours.
