not budging without a budget During an appearance in downtown Los Angeles this morning, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he still does not plan to attend the Republican National Convention in St. Paul next week unless he reaches an agreement with legislators on the budget.

“If we do not have a budget, I will not go to the convention,” Schwarzenegger said as he stood with members of the California Contract Cities Assn. and Independent Cities Assn. on the convention center steps this morning.

“The most important thing is to solve the budget crisis, to bring Democrats and Republicans together,” the governor said.

Schwarzenegger did not answer a question about whether he would make a televised appearance at the convention, and reiterated his position that the Legislature should not borrow to cover the budget deficit.
