Not so fast: Rocky Delgadillo's office speaks out on $6.9-million award

August 1, 2008 |  2:08 pm

The first time around, City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo's office declined to comment on the $6.9-million jury settlement in the Sandra Griffin lawsuit. But after reading the item in L.A. Now, Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the attorney's office, says things are not what they seem. Here's his comment to our reporter, Jeff Gottlieb:

Our attorneys have videotape evidence that this woman was lying about the nature of her injuries, so you'd better believe we're going to do everything in our power to protect taxpayer dollars and fight this thing all the way to the end. Unfortunately, the jury ignored the video and still awarded her the money. We think this outcome is a travesty for city taxpayers and we're going to fight it on appeal.
