Kathy Kinney may be best known for portraying the garishly made-up, wickedly nasty nemesis Mimi on the ‘Drew Carey Show,’ but she’s actually very nice. In this clip, with a fresh face, she talks about her upcoming appearance at the L.A. Times Festival of Books and about her new character, Mrs. P.

Mrs. P is a friendly Irish lady who reads children’s stories from a magic library. ‘She’s a combination of dusty old roses and lemon juice with a little bit of tequila behind her ears,’ she told the L.A. Times before the Mrs. P website launch in November. ‘She’s eccentric. She’s stable, but she’s leading a really fantastic life. And people who read lead fantastic lives.’
