Compton: Marcelino Pettway, 25

Marcelino Pettway, a 25-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Sept. 1 after he was shot three times at Long Beach Boulevard and Marcelle Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Pettway, of Compton, was talking to someone sitting in a car when the the person got out of the vehicle and shot him several times, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office.

The shooting happened at about 10:37 p.m. and Pettway was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m., Winter said.
